Competitor Tracking

Automatically detect and analyze competitor mentions in every meeting. IceCubes scans transcripts for the competitors you configure and provides context, sentiment, risk level, and exact quotes.

Not the Same as Smart Tags

Competitor Tracking is a dedicated feature, separate from Smart Tags. Competitor Tracking uses a specialized keyword scanner plus LLM context analysis to detect and classify every mention of your configured competitors. Smart Tags are general-purpose meeting classifiers.

How It Works

1. Add Competitors

Go to Settings > Sales & Custom Insights and add competitor names. IceCubes also suggests competitors it detects in your meetings.

2. Automatic Scanning

Every transcript is scanned for your competitor names. When found, the AI analyzes each mention for context and competitive intent.

3. Structured Output

Each mention includes the competitor name, context type, risk level, the speaker’s exact words, and a timestamp.

What You See

In the Insights tab of any meeting, the Competitor Mentions section shows a summary card and individual mention cards:

Summary Card

At the top, a summary shows the total number of mentions, which competitors were named, and the primary context (e.g., “Comparing options”).

Individual Mention Cards

Each mention card includes:

  • Competitor name with a colored badge
  • Timestamp — when in the meeting the mention occurred
  • Speaker name and role — identified as Prospect (external) or Internal
  • Context type — “Comparing options,” “Considering switch to,” “Currently using,” etc.
  • Risk level — flagged when the mention signals a competitive threat (shown as a red “Risk” badge)
  • Exact quote — the speaker’s words in context

Context Types

The AI classifies each competitor mention into one of several context types:

ContextWhat It Means
EvaluatingProspect is comparing options or evaluating your product alongside the competitor
Currently usingProspect already uses the competitor (potential displacement opportunity)
Switching fromProspect wants to leave the competitor (good signal for you)
Switching toProspect is considering moving to the competitor (competitive threat)
General mentionCompetitor name mentioned in passing without strong competitive intent

Setting Up

  1. Go to Settings from the sidebar
  2. Navigate to Sales & Custom Insights
  3. In the Competitor Tracking section, add your competitors by name
  4. IceCubes will scan all future meetings automatically

AI Suggestions

When IceCubes detects a potential competitor name in a meeting that isn’t in your configured list, it will suggest adding it. You can accept or dismiss these suggestions.

CRM Integration

When you have HubSpot or Salesforce connected, competitor mention data flows into your CRM alongside meeting summaries and insights. Your CRM record shows which competitors were mentioned, how many times, and in what context — giving your team full competitive visibility without manual data entry.

No Extra Cost

Competitor tracking is included in the insight extraction process. No additional AI credits are consumed beyond what’s already used for insights.
