Google Meet
IceCubes provides full support for Google Meet with real-time transcript capture, speaker detection, and sidebar panel integration.
How It Works
When you join a Google Meet call, IceCubes automatically:
- Detects that you're in a Google Meet call
- Enables captions if they aren't already on
- Opens a sidebar panel showing the live transcript
- Captures speaker names and timestamps
- Syncs the transcript to your IceCubes account
Requirements
- Browser: Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
- Extension: IceCubes extension installed and signed in
- Meeting access: You must be a participant in the meeting
- Captions: Will be enabled automatically if not already on
Speaker Detection
Google Meet identifies speakers based on who is talking. IceCubes captures this information and associates each transcript segment with the speaker.
Caption Languages
IceCubes supports all languages that Google Meet captions support:
- English (US, UK, Australia, etc.)
- Spanish
- French
- German
- Portuguese
- And many more...
To change the caption language in Google Meet:
- Click the three-dot menu in Google Meet
- Select "Settings" → "Captions"
- Choose your preferred language
Translation Detection
IceCubes can detect when Google Meet's live translation feature is active and will capture the translated captions instead of the original language.
Sidebar Panel
The sidebar panel shows:
- Live transcript - Real-time updates as people speak
- Speaker labels - Who said what
- Timestamps - When each segment was spoken
- Notes area - Take notes during the meeting
- Copy/Export - Copy transcript to clipboard
Troubleshooting
Sidebar doesn't appear
- Make sure the IceCubes extension is installed and enabled
- Check that you're signed in to the extension
- Try refreshing the Google Meet page
- Ensure captions are enabled in Google Meet
Transcript shows "Unknown" speaker
This happens when Google Meet hasn't identified the speaker yet:
- Wait a few seconds - speaker detection often improves
- You can rename speakers after the meeting
- Ask participants to identify themselves when speaking
Captions are delayed
Google Meet captions have a natural delay of 1-3 seconds. This is expected behavior as the speech recognition processes audio. IceCubes captures captions as soon as they're available.
Meeting doesn't sync after ending
- Wait 10-15 seconds after the meeting ends
- Check your internet connection
- Refresh the IceCubes dashboard
- Verify you're signed in with the same account
Privacy Considerations
- IceCubes only captures meetings where you're a participant
- Transcripts are stored in your private IceCubes account
- Other participants are not notified that you're using IceCubes
- Consider informing meeting participants if required by your organization's policy
